Functional Fitness Kids is a strength and conditioning program that is specifically designed for kids and teenagers and helps them develop a lifelong love of fitness. It is entirely absolutely Functional Fitness geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population.
At Fit 2 Serve, we have found that some women feel more comfortable pushing themselves and improving their own fitness levels when they are in an environment in which they feel comfortable. And for some women, that means a class with other women. While every class taught at Fit 2 Serve offers a “safe space” for learning new movement and improving fitness levels, we have discovered that many of our female athletes have benefited significantly from being surrounded by other women.
The Functional Fitness Group Classes are the backbone of what we do at Functional Fitness 2 Serve. In a small group setting, we provide your daily programming (warm-up, skill-work, workout, and mobility) as well as full coaching instruction.
Fit 2 Serve (Masters class) incorporates the same methodologies as the traditional CrossFit program but has been developed for individuals 50 years and older. Our goal is to improve your quality of life and increase your longevity. We focus on constantly varied workouts with functional movements, but we manage the intensity to stay within a certain heart rate so that you can recover appropriately. We want you to “use it,” so you don’t “lose it”!
Client experience:
I began searching online and I found CrossFit 2 Serve. The first day I attended a class I was welcomed with open arms. I was immediately taken back by the kind and inviting demeanor of the members and staff. I knew that this was my new gym. It went against everything I had been told about choosing a gym. I was told that I should do lots of research and try many places before deciding but it just felt right.
As I attended classes more regularly I began to develop some friendships at CrossFit 2 Serve. I began to notice that everyone was talking about Jesus and sharing bible verses. The walls were covered in bible verses and the music being played was nothing like my old gym. It was all different for me but in a good way.
As the reason I was in this gym became evident to me I realized what God had done in my life. I had been raised in Christian home with amazing parents who brought me up knowing the word of God. As young adult I allowed myself to stray from the Lord and I was living in the world. When I walked into CrossFit 2 Serve I know the Lord was working on me.
CrossFit was the tool he used to bring me back home. When I realized this, I came like a prodigal and I committed my life to Jesus! Luckily for me he is in the business of forgiving.
I continue to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ and in CrossFIt. The parallel between spiritual and physical health is something that I use daily to keep myself motivated.
The Lord has given me an able body and I believe he wants me to maintain it. Since I began CrossFit and eating a Zone favorable diet I have lost 35 pounds and my BMI is around 9 percent. I have never been in better shape physically or spiritually.
CrossFit 2 Serve has not only changed my life but that of my wife and son Zach. Both are now members of the gym and members of the Kingdom of Heaven!

My name is Nicole I started off weighing at 184lbs in July 2016 when my husband left on deployment for over a year . One day I was just tired of feeling sad about the way I looked and wanted to change my life style and eating habits and wanted to feel good about myself.
December I started to workout at the gym and change my eating habits. I was so shy because I had no idea what I was doing, but I told myself I could do it. Everyone starts somewhere. I got down to a good healthy weight, but wanted to try something else rather than just the gym I wanted something that was fun, competitive and would build muscle and help with more weight loss. I was very nervous starting crossfit because it looked intense. I never did any of those workouts before!
Derek, owner of crossfit to serve was awesome and showed me step by step and made me feel comfortable. It’s been the best sport I’ve ever tried and I love it. I’m now 148lbs and so proud of myself and just meeting such amazing people who really push and drive you. You develop really awesome friendships with everyone there.
I would definitely refer this gym! It’s helped me in so many ways. I’m so happy and blessed I took a leap of faith and joined this gym.

When I started CrossFit I was weak, frail, underweight, and had exercise-induced asthma. Most of these symptoms was from a slight case of anorexia, and I was struggling with depression and had extreme social anxiety.
I sill remember my first day, I was very nervous because I had no idea what the people were going to be like and I was scared of the intensity of the exercises, but everyone, adults and the other teens, were so welcoming and encouraging; the workout was scaled to only what I was able to handle and no more, which was a huge relief to me. After that I was hooked, and since I was, I knew I had to eat right.
It was a struggle for me to up the calories, but slowly and surely, with advice from Derek, I started to eat better. With that, I started getting a lot stronger.
After about 6 months I looked so much better, got to a healthy weight, my asthma was history, and I started making my PR’s, my depression was diminishing, but I still struggled with the social aspect of CrossFit, a little bit later I was finally warming up to the group. Now, a year and a half later from when I started, I’m the strongest and fittest I’ve ever been, I’m much more open to a healthy caloric intake, I’m eating extremely healthy (mostly paleo), I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, and Derek got me started in his and his wife’s youth group at church.
I have friends there and I was more talkative because CrossFit 2 Serve helped me come out of my shell. Two of the teens that were there, Adam and Tanner, that I wouldn’t even make eye contact with because I was so shy, are now my best friends, and there’s always a ‘friendly’ competition between us.
CrossFit 2 Serve-exercise and people there-helped me become who I am today: Strong, fit, fast, competitive, more outgoing, social, and one of those CrossFitters who say, “can I add just 10 more pounds to the barbell?

A year ago I was introduced to crossfit at a local box here in Henderson NV called crossfit 2 serve through Derek and my father in law. At that time in my life I was just coming into year one of sobriety and weighing in at 250 lbs.
I was dealing a lot with physical pain, injuries from construction and still trying to recover from the damage that drugs and alcohol had done to me but praise Jesus that He delivered me from that lifestyle a year before that. So starting out fresh in crossfit, I didn’t know what it was and I thought to myself that im not a cardio kinda guy. I wanted heavy weights. Ha.
I soon realized after a couple of wods that crossfit was gonna be an avenue that God was and is still using to feed my energy into. Shortly into it I was shown how to implement the zone diet. My prayer was more discipline in all aspects of my life. My walk with God, exercise and nutrition etc…
So now a year later I’m down 70 lbs and weigh 180 lbs. My very first wod was Cindy, which I’ll never forget. I did 10 rds not RX, ring rows for pull ups, bout died on push ups and didn’t know what below parallel ment on a squat. Now I am able to do Cindy RX. I always understood doing a heavy bench set or leg day but coming to a place of being ok with High reps was unheard of in my mind but through time and consistentcy my cardio went up and it did get easier even tho wods seemed to get harder.
I was asked to come up with goals when I first started which looked something like; do a pull up, lose 20 lbs, run a mile, run a 5k race but a couple months into I drank the koolaid so to speak and found myself at the box alot putting in extra work after wods and even before wods to try and get better at crossfit as a whole. As the weight was coming off through the zone diet, my performance went up. Pull-ups came easier, even nailed a muscle up about 4 months into it.
I could barely clean, snatch, squat and deadlift. Now my clean is up to 270, snatch is up to 200, squat is 345 and deadlift is 435. It was consistentcy of being there at the box, nutrition and health that God has given me to keep going. As well as the community at crossfit 2 serve. It is awesome and really encouraging to see strangers become family through grinding it out together and finding comanality through it. Jan 5th 2016 marks my 2 year anniversary of being freed from addictions and also a 1 year reminder of when I started doing crossfit. I am healthy and thriving again!

I’ve lost 105 lbs. All the glory to God!
I’ve struggled with my weight all my life but it wasn’t until after I had my beautiful daughters that I realized I really needed to make a permanent lifestyle change.
My husband joined CrossFit2Serve in October 2013 and I watched his amazing transformation before my eyes and it was awe-inspiring.
After much thought and prayer on January 10, 2014 I took a step of faith and signed up for CrossFit2Serve and joined in my very first Whole Life Challenge. One year later I have lost 105 pounds!
It goes so far beyond just the weight-loss but it is a whole mental shift that has happened where I focus more on my health and fitness resulting in shedding the pounds while building strength, endurance & greater confidence. It’s so exciting!
In October 2014 I ran my first 5k and in November I won 1st place in the women’s intermediate division of the 2014 CrossFit2Serve games!!! I thank the Lord for placing me at CrossFit2Serve and surrounding me with the most amazing, encouraging, inspiring, dedicated and loving community of people & coaches that I get the privilege of working out with! They are taking this journey alongside me and are a real part of my success. Praising and thanking God every day for the work He has done in & through me. I’m so excited for what the future holds for me.

Hi my name is Richard Langberg. My life has been full of thick and thins; for the past 12 years though it’s been mostly thick.
I reached a peak of 294 pounds, and knew I had to make a change. My head was in a cloud, with all the processed foods, sugars and cheeses.
On September 25th, 2013 I joined CrossFit 2 Serve. It was the best thing that I could have done for my health. I’ve lost 55 pounds with 40 more to go. I have increased my fitness level and my mental capabilities. But I’ve gained much more than a healthy fitness level. I have also gained clarity of thought and mind, increasing my strength, flexibility and endurance.
I’ve gained a whole new understanding of my body and how it works. I’m learning to endure even when my body wants to quit. And only through the strength of God, the support of my family and friends at CrossFit 2 Serve could any of this be possible. Thank you Jesus!

My name is Gregg Seymour. I am a Pastor at a non-denominational Christian fellowship in Henderson Nevada. It was in 2004 that I had become a man in his mid-forties who was on an uphill climb with body weight. My life was one of many years of addiction and body abuse. While I was released from the bondage of those sins in 1996 when I met my Lord and Savior, I still struggled with food issues in my life. My body suffered greatly, as by 2010 I had moved to 245 lbs on my 5’9” small-sized frame.
My weight was something that was really wearing on me. My waist had reached a 44” size, and even that was getting tight. I was at my end emotionally with this, and decided to put my complete effort into a weight loss program. I stuck to the program and within 3 months had dropped close to 50 lbs. I then decided to join a globo-gym around the corner. I had NEVER been in a gym in my life – in fact, I had never truly worked out in my life. After a couple of months I found myself hit with an Inguinal Hernia. This took surgery and put me 2 months out of the gym to recover from. It was then I realized – “I DON’T HAVE A CLUE ON HOW TO DO FITNESS”.
It was during this time of break that I was talking to a member of our congregation named Derek DelRosario. I had known Derek informally for over a year or so, but never spoke with him about fitness. He told me briefly about his fitness training background and said that he would love to give me guidance into a strategized program. Through his training experience I went from zero to running my first marathon in one year’s time. Through the program set forth by Derek, I was able to drop down to a weight of 160 lbs which equated to a 14” reduction in waist size. It was towards the end of 2011 that Derek informed me that beginning in 2012, the training was not going to be harder, but different”.
He told me to think about one word – “CrossFit”. I had no idea what he was talking about, but would soon find out. We joined a local CrossFit affiliate and started training. While it was on one hand the hardest thing I’d ever done, it became quickly apparent that it was also one of the most rewarding things I’d ever done. At 51 years old, Derek led me to a program that would change my entire perception of what my limitations were.
I am now completely sold-out to the CrossFit training philosophy, and see the overwhelming benefits of this regimen.Derek shared with me his vision of opening a CF box someday that would focus not just on the physical side of fitness, but on the spiritual as well. That vision immediately excited me. As a distance runner my passion is endurance, and based on that I am also excited to see how the CrossFit Endurance program and philosophy will be utilized at this box. I have been thoroughly blessed by Derek’s vast knowledge and experience in the area of fitness training. His overall expertise in exercise and nutrition has proven invaluable in my quest into endurance athletics. I endorse Derek and CrossFit 2 Serve to anyone desiring to improve overall quality of life.

Excellent question. Functional Fitness is a general physical preparedness program for people of all fitness levels — from novices to uber-athletes and everyone in between. Functional Fitness is designed to build well-rounded, extremely fit athletes who can handle just about anything nature and their daily lives throw their way.Functional Fitness is centered around three pillars: functional movements that mimic those found in nature and translate to your day-to-day tasks; variety that challenges you mentally and physically; and a steady build up to intensity of workout.
In oh-so-many ways – perhaps too many to list here. But for starters, Functional Fitness workouts do not involve repetitive motions completed on weight or elliptical machines that focus on one set of muscles, or in spin, step and other classes you find at most gyms. Functional Fitness workouts incorporate functional movements you can apply to your every-day tasks, and varies them so that your body continually adapts to meet new challenges – and your brain doesn’t get bored.Under the guidance of our certified Functional Fitness coaches, Functional Fitness athletes complete workouts of the day (WODs) that are short, intense (scaled to your level of fitness and knowledge), and constantly varied.
You’ll learn how to do Olympic lifting, weightlifting, kettlebell, dumbbell and gymnastics movements. Functional Fitnessers run, jump, swing, climb ropes, row and lots more. Bottom line: prepare to work your butt off, but have a great time doing it.The best way to experience Functional Fitness’ unique and results-driven approach to fitness is to schedule a free private session. Call 702-250-0983 to schedule yours now.
Absolutely not. Our athletes come to Functional Fitness in all shapes and sizes, and from a variety of backgrounds, fitness levels and ages. Some are self-proclaimed couch potatoes, some get their exercise chasing their grandkids, some are insanely fit first-responders and military personnel, some are former gym rats looking for a better workout, and others are seasoned athletes whose bodies have taken a beating over the years.Whatever your fitness level, we’ll work with you to customize workouts that are appropriate for you and steadily build up from there. All you need to get started is a willingness to try, and a commitment to follow through. We’ll help you with the rest.
You’re right: Functional Fitness isn’t for everyone. It’s definitely not for anyone looking for a quick fix or a shortcut to getting in shape. We believe you have to put in the work and the time, the blood, sweat and tears – and that’s what makes the results you get so dramatic, and so rewarding. We’re not just about building better bodies, but about building better people who lead happier, healthier, fuller lives. Sound like something you’d be interested in? Give it a try. But if you’re adverse to hard work, please don’t waste our time – or yours.
We do things in an endless variety of drills. Jumping, medicine ball throws and catches, pull-ups, dips, push-ups, handstands, presses to handstand, pirouettes, kips, cartwheels, muscle-ups, sit-ups, scales, holds, the clean & jerk, snatch, squat, deadlift, push-press, bench-press, and power-clean. We make regular use of running and rowing machines, Olympic weight sets, rings, parallel bars, free exercise mat, horizontal bar, plyometric boxes, medicine balls, and jump ropes. There isn’t a strength and conditioning program anywhere that works with a greater diversity of tools, modalities, and drills.
According to Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, an athlete is a “person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring strength, agility, or stamina”.The Functional Fitness definition of an athlete is a bit tighter. The Functional Fitness definition of an athlete is “a person who is trained or skilled in strength, power, balance, and agility, flexibility, and endurance”. The Functional Fitness model holds “fitness”, “health”, and “athleticism” as strongly overlapping constructs. For most purposes, they can be seen as equivalents.
Nope. Athletes experience a protection from the ravages of aging and disease that non-athletes never find. For instance, 80-year-old athletes are stronger than non-athletes in their prime at 25 years old. If you think that strength isn’t important, consider that strength loss is what puts people in nursing homes. Athletes have greater bone density, stronger immune systems, less coronary heart disease, reduced cancer risk, fewer strokes, and less depression than non-athletes.
So, bottom line, become an athlete today.
